Denison tops Grove City
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team dropped a 161-119 decision to visiting Denison Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the James E. Longnecker Pool.
Senior Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) helped pace Grove City by sweeping the sprint events. She won the 50 free in 24.47 seconds, then took the 100 free in 53.19. Palumbo also won the 200 free in a time of 1:54.70.
Freshman diver Carolyn Eckendorf (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) won 1-meter diving with 228.90 points. She also took second on the 3-meter board with 244.80 points.
Grove City's 200 free relay team of Palumbo, senior Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College), sophomore Tori Baker (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) and senior Kait Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) posted the second-fastest time in the 200 free relay, 1:38.75.
Grove City (5-3 overall) will face Wooster next Saturday in a non-conference, neutral-site dual meet at Allegheny College in Meadville.
