Wolverine swimmers named CSCAA Scholar All-America

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Freshman Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), senior Kaley Hess (Reamstown, Pa./Cocalico) and freshman Megan Smith (Tyler, Texas/Kolbe Academy), as well as the Grove City College men's and women's swimming and diving teams, were honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) when Individual and Team Scholar All-America awards were announced late last week.

Jank, an elementary education major, earned NCAA Division III First Team honors while Hess (communications) and Smith (entrepreneurship) were both Honorable Mention recipients. The First Team is comprised of all student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or higher who represented their respective teams at the NCAA Division III Championships while Honorable Mention status is given to all student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or higher who achieved an NCAA "B" qualifying standard but did not represent their teams at the national championships.

Additionally, both the Wolverine men and women received CSCAA Team Scholar All-America awards for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or better. Grove City's women recorded a team GPA of 3.13 while the men collectively earned a 3.04.

Both the Grove City College men's and women's swimming and diving teams won Presidents' Athletic Conference titles in 2014. The women won their sixth-consecutive PAC championship and 12th overall while the men won their sixth PAC title in the past seven years and 18th overall.
