Wolverines earn Senior Day win over SUNY-Fredonia

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team sent its seniors out in style with a 162-126 victory over visiting SUNY-Fredonia in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon in the James E. Longnecker Pool.

Senior Kaley Hess (Reamstown, Pa./Cocalico), junior Keegan Reed (Greencastle, Pa./James Buchanan) and freshman Megan Smith (Tyler, Texas/Kolbe Academy) each earned a pair of victories to lead the Wolverines (6-5).

Hess teamed with junior Tori Baker (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) and freshmen Kristi Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) and Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) to win the 200 medley relay (1:54.08) before earning the individual victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.92).

Reed posted an unusual combination of wins, rolling to a 26-second victory in the 1000 freestyle (11:15.38) before edging teammate Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) in the 50 freestyle (25.90). Smith earned wins in the 200 freestyle (1:58.41) and 200 breaststroke (2:29.94) while also posting the meet's top time in the 400 IM as an exhibition performer (4:44.90).

Freshman Tia Graham (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) won the 200 butterfly by nearly five seconds (2:18.90) while classmate Amanda Hutzelmann (Milford, Pa./Homeschooled) earned the win in the 100 butterfly (1:02.04). Cassano added a victory in the 200 backstroke (2:13.43) to a pair of second-place finishes.

During the meet, Grove City honored its three seniors- Janele Baglia (Grove City, Pa./Grove City), Hess and Sarah Nosal (Austin, Texas/Westwood).

The Wolverines travel to Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Westminster on Thursday evening for a 6 p.m. meet.
