Bilko earns All-America honors

INDIANAPOLIS -- Grove City College sophomore swimmer Megan Bilko (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) earned All-American honors in the 500 free Wednesday night at the NCAA Division III Championships, hosted by Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corporation.

Bilko earned 12th place in the 500 by posting a school-record time of 4 minutes, 55.31 seconds. She broke her previous school record of 4:58.96 by over three seconds.

In Wednesday's preliminaries, she finished 14th with a qualifying time of 4:59.10.

It is Bilko's first individual All-America honor. She earned All-America distinction in the 800 free relay as a freshman last season.

Bilko also contributed to Grove City's 26th-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Junior Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township), junior Tori Baker (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) and freshman Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) joined Bilko in posting a time of 1:51.10.

Grove City is currently 25th in the team standings with five points. Thursday's preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. and the finals start at 6 p.m.
