Grove City earns All-America in 800 free relay

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team produced an All-America performance Friday in the 800 free relay at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corporation.

The quartet of junior Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township), junior Tori Baker (Fairfax, Va./Robinson), freshman Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) and sophomore Megan Bilko (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) captured 14th in the 800 free relay with a time of 7 minutes, 37.80 seconds.

It is Bilko's third All-America honor this week. She earlier earned All-America in the 400 individual medley and the 500 free. Jank has become the 16th all-time NCAA All-American in program history.

Cassano also competed in the preliminaries of the 100 backstroke Friday morning and finished 35th in a time of 58.91 seconds.

Grove City currently ranks 30th in the team standings with 14 points. Saturday, the four Grove City performers will compete in the 400 free relay. Cassano will also swim the 200 backstroke and Bilko will compete in the 1650.

Saturday's preliminaries begin at 10 a.m.
