Wolverines down Cardinals

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team improved to 3-2 overall Saturday by earning a 155-139 win over visiting Wheeling Jesuit at the James E. Longnecker Pool.

Sophomore Megan Smith (Tyler, Texas/Kolbe Academy) helped lead Grove City by recording three individual wins. She won the 1000 in a time of 10 minutes, 51.44 seconds. Smith then took the 500 in 5:17.85 and recorded a winning time of 4:46.47 in the 400 individual medley.

Senior Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) won the 200 free in 2:00.95. She also led off Grove City's victorious 200 free relay, which posted a time of 1:41.13. Sophomore Molly Gallant (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park), senior Amy Melnik (Clifton Park, N.Y./Homeschooled) and sophomore Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) joined Cassano on the victorious relay.

Junior diver Carolyn Eckendorf (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) swept both 1- and 3-meter diving for Grove City. She won 1-meter diving with 232.50 points and then recorded a score of 254.30 on the 3-meter board.

Grove City will host Gannon and Case Western Reserve next Saturday at 12 p.m.
