Grove City tops Fredonia State
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team improved to 6-3 overall by earning a 168-130 win at Fredonia State in a non-conference dual meet Saturday afternoon.
Senior Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township), sophomore Megan Smith (Tyler, Texas/Kolbe) and sophomore Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) all earned two wins each for the Wolverines. Cassano won the 100 backstroke in 1 minute, 1.68 seconds and then took the 200 individual medley in 2:18.15.
Smith captured the 1000 in a victorious time of 10:49.39 and then took first in the 500 (5:19.64). Jank won both the 100 (55.96) and 200 (1:59.95) freestyle races.
Sophomore Amanda Hutzelmann (Milford, Pa./Homeschooled) won the 200 butterfly in 2:16.79 and classmate Molly Gallant (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) touched first in the 50 with a winning time of 25.61 seconds.
Grove City will host Presidents' Athletic Conference archrival Westminster January 29 at 6 p.m.
