Grove City swims well at Kenyon Fast Chance

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Seven members of the Grove City College women's swimming and diving team competed at the Kenyon College Fast Chance Invitational in the Steen Aquatic Center on a snowy Saturday afternoon.

The Wolverine foursome of senior Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township), senior Tori Baker (Fairvax, Va./Robinson), sophomore Megan Smith (Tyler, Texas/Kolbe Academy) and sophomore Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) recorded an NCAA "B" provisional qualifying time of 7 minutes, 38.39 seconds in the 800 free relay.

Senior Keegan Reed (Greencastle, Pa./James Buchanan) teamed with Baker, Cassano and Jank to record a time of 3:33.46 in the 400 free relay while sophomore Molly Gallant (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park), Baker, Cassano and Jank completed the 200 free relay in 1:37.04.

Individually, sophomore Amanda Hutzelmann (Milford, Pa./Homeschooled) just missed improving upon her NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.24. Smith posted times of 54.53 in the 100 free, 1:56.67 in the 200 free and 5:05.35 in the 500 free.

Jank (1:55.75), Baker (1:56.18), Cassano (1:56.25) and Reed (1:57.50) each also competed in the 200 free.

The Wolverines will await a possible invitation to the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, which will take place March 18-21 in Shenandoah, Texas.
