Grove City earns All-America in 800 free relay

SHENANDOAH, Texas -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team produced its first All-America performance at the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships in Conroe Natatorium Friday.

The Grove City quartet of senior Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township), sophomore Megan Smith (Tyler, Texas/Kolbe Academy), sophomore Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) and senior Tori Baker (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) combined to earn 14th place in the 800 free relay, qualifying the foursome for All-America honors. Cassano, Baker, Smith and Jank recorded a season-best time of 7 minutes, 35.90 seconds.

Grove City entered the Championships as the No. 15 seed in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:38.39.

Baker and Cassano are now four-time NCAA Division III All-Americans for their career. Jank owns two All-America honors while Smith earned her first career All-America citation. Smith is the 17th All-American in Grove City women's swimming and diving history.

Grove City will conclude action at the four-day meet Saturday by competing in the 400 free relay. The Wolverines are seeded 23rd with a season-best time of 3:31.62. Additionally, Smith will compete in the 1650 free. She is seeded 25th with a best time of 17:27.11.
