Wolverines roll past Bison in regular-season finale

BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team won six events and added another seven best times in events in exhibition as the Wolverines rolled to a 106-64 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory over Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference action inside Knight Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Megan Crutcher (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), senior Megan Bilko (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and junior Maddie Van Dyke (Fleming Island, Fla./Fleming Island) each posted the top times of the day in multiple individual events for the Wolverines. Crutcher won the 50 free in 26.17 seconds and added the meet's best time in the 100 free (57.47) in exhibition. Bilko cruised to victory in the 400 IM (4:40.60) and posted a mile time of 18:11.78 in exhibition while Van Dyke won the 200 free (2:03.56) and swam a best-time of 2:24.16 in the 200 IM in exhibition.

Senior Ashley Meesuk (Millersville, Md./Calvary Baptist) earned the victory in the 100 breast in 1:13.63 while sophomore Hannah Shoemaker (Butler, Pa./Knoch) earned nine points for Grove City in the 200 fly (2:45.27). Freshman Sarah Haley (Willowick, Ohio/Cornerstone Christian) won the 500 free in 6:07.82.

Two other Wolverines posted top event times in exhibition. Junior Shelly Newcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) recorded a time of 2:32.90 in the 200 back while sophomore Abby Noll (Rockville, Md./Rockville) swam a 2:40.08 in the 200 breast.

Crutcher, Meesuk, sophomore Carolyn Ebel (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) and sophomore Sarah Blodgett (Bidwell, Ohio/River Valley) opened the meet with a winning time of 4:30.96 in the 400 medley relay while freshman Abby Jopek (Westfield, N.Y./Westfield), freshman Emma Wilson (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge), Haley and Noll posted an exhibition time of 4:11.81 in the 400 free relay.

Today's meet concludes the regular season for Grove City. The Wolverine swimming and diving teams return to action February 10-13 when they host the 2016 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in conjunction with the 2016 James E. Longnecker Swimming and Diving Invitational.
