Bilko breaks own 400 IM record at Kenyon Fast Chance

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior Megan Bilko (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) broke her own school record in the 400 individual medley as several members of the Grove City College women's swimming and diving team competed at the Kenyon College Fast Chance Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Steen Aquatic Center.

Bilko completed the event in an NCAA "B" provisional qualifying time of 4 minutes, 27.78 seconds, besting her previous record time of 4:28.18 by four-tenths of a second. It also was three-quarters of a second faster than her previous best time of the 2015-16 season.

Four other Wolverines competed in the meet. Junior Megan Smith (Tyler, Texas/Kolbe Academy) posted a time of 4:40.23 in the 400 IM while freshman Megan Crutcher (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) completed the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.54.

Junior Molly Gallant (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) swam four events in an attempt to improve her 50 free time. She swam times of 24.17 seconds and 23.98 in the open 50 free while recording times of 24.00 and 23.81 seconds as the leadoff leg of two 200 free relay attempts. Junior Amanda Hutzelmann (Milford, Pa./Homeschooled) also swam on both relays.

Bilko is under consideration for the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in the 400 IM. She will await selection in the coming weeks.

Senior Carolyn Eckendorf (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) will represent Grove City next weekend at the NCAA DIII Region IV Diving Championships.
