Bilko breaks own record, earns All-America in 400 IM

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Grove City College senior women's swimmer Megan Bilko (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) broke her own school record in the 400 yard individual medley twice en route to earning All-America honors with a 10th-place finish in the event at the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Sitting sixth in the consolation final after the breaststroke leg, Bilko closed with a 100 free split of 57.06 seconds - the fastest freestyle split in either heat of the night session - to complete the event with a record-setting time of 4:25.12 That mark was the seventh-fastest time during the Thursday night session.

During Thursday morning's preliminary heats, Bilko finished ninth with a time of 4:26.51, breaking her own record of 4:27.78 set at the Kenyon College Fast Chance Meet on February 20.

Bilko is now a six-time All-American, with four of those honors coming in individual events. She earned All-America honors in the 800 free relay in both 2013 and 2014 and in the 500 free, 400 IM and 1650 free in 2014.

Bilko will compete in the prelims of the 200 butterfly tomorrow morning. She will compete in Heat 1 (Lane 3), which is schedule to start at 10:11 a.m.
