Southern Swing Ends in Georgia

SAVANNAH, GA, January 10, 2000--The Lady Wolverine swimming and diving team placed second at the four-school Fairmont State Invitational held at the Chatham County Aquatic Center in Savannah, Georgia on Monday, ending a nine-day southern training trip.

Fairmont won the meet with 64 points, followed by Grove City with 59, Mansfield with 55 and Genesee Community College with 8.  

Sarah Erdos (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) was a double-winner with first-place finishes in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.

Last Thursday, Grove City won the combined men's-women's Buffalo State Invitational at Orlando, Florida with a first-place total of 214 points.  Buffalo State placed second with 158 points.  Erdos won gold in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle, and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay team with Erica Brandau (North Canton, OH/Hoover), Courtney Heckman (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg-Salem) and Katie McCaslin (Lafayette Hill, PA/Phil-Mont Christian).  Linnea Volker (Yakima, WA/West Valley) added a win in the 100 backstroke and Jessica Pytlik (Glenshaw, PA/Shaler) won the 200 individual medley.
