Grove City remains 3rd after two days
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team is in third place after two days of action at the three-day Grove City College Invitational/Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships.
Grove City currently has 329 points, trailing PAC rivals Washington and Jefferson (573) and Westminster (529).
Senior Christine Bare (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) won the 1000, setting a new College Pool record with a time of 10:41.13. Bare also joined senior Karen Rodgers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills), junior Ellen Magee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschooled) and freshman Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) on the Wolverines' second-place 800 free relay team. That quartet posted a time of 8:02.54.
Rodgers, senior Jacquie Adlam (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), sophomore Amy Brown (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills) and freshman Christie Hebda (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) opened Friday night's finals by taking fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:55.89).
Adlam earned runner-up honors in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.74), two spots ahead of junior Amanda Brozenic (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock), who turned in a time of 1:09.62. Rodgers earned fifth in the 400 individual medley (4:58.34).
Saturday's preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. with the finals set for 5:30 p.m.
