Grove City 102, Bethany 91


January 13, 1999--The Lady Wolverines won their fifth consecutive dual meet Thursday, defeating host Bethany, 102-91, in the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener for both schools.

Senior Britt Carpenter (North Wales, PA/North Penn) swam away with three first-places finishes, taking the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.9), the 200 individual medley (2:31.2), and assisting the winning 200 medley relay (2:11.6).  Freshman Sarah Erdos (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) was a double-winner, touching first in the 1,000 free (11:49.3) and 100 butterfly (1:09.5).  

Other winners included junior Brigitte Hanna (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) in the 50 free (:27.82), senior Jenny Clepper (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) in the 100 free (1:00.5) and freshman Erica Brandau (North Canton, OH/Hoover) in the 100 backstroke (1:08.8).

The Lady Wolverines stopped at Bethany on their way home from a training week in Florida.  Coach Jacobs' crew placed first in its only competitive meet, a three-school invitational at the University of North Florida.

Grove City, 5-2 overall, swims at league rival Washington & Jefferson Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
