Lady Wolverine PAC title

GREENVILLE, PA, October 13, 2001--It's that time of year, again. Falling leaves, shorter days, cooler
temperatures and another conference championship for the Grove City College
women's tennis team.
The Lady Wolverines won all six singles finals and each of the three doubles flights to claim their 15th consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference championship title at Thiel College on Saturday. They did it the same way they did last year -- winning all nine championship matches in straight sets.
Senior Alyssa Bradford became a four-time PAC Player of the Year after winning the first singles championship over Bethany College's Sonya Gomes, 6-0, 6-2. Bradford, the only senior on the squad, posted a career first-singles record of 36-3 in dual matches.
Grove City won the title with 54 points. Bethany, who was represented in eight of the nine finals, placed second with 35 points. Washington & Jefferson College took third with 22 points, followed by Waynesburg College (17) and Thiel (7).
This year's championship crown marked the 10th for head coach Cathy Jacobs, who led the Lady Wolverines to a 6-4 record in the regular season. Three of the four losses came against NCAA Division II schools.
