Lady Wolverines compete at ITA regionals

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Several members of the Grove City College women's tennis team competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regionals at Mary Washington College this weekend.

Junior Allison Atwood (Warren, Pa.) went 1-1 during the competition, winning her first-round match 6-1, 6-2 over Megan Mathis. However, Atwood dropped a 7-5, 6-3 decision to Washington and Lee's Elizabeth McCracken in the second round. Senior Lisa Oriti (Brecksville, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) pulled out a 6-4, 6-4 win over Swarthmore's Emily Townsend in the first round before falling 6-3, 6-0 to second-seeded Erika Proko.

Senior Erika Hauge (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) dropped a 6-2, 6-0 verdict to WC's Devon Hufnal in the first round. Hauge received a bye in the consolation round but was then eliminated, 8-1. Sophomore Megan Hulick (Butler, Pa./Butler) also went 1-2, winning 8-1 in the consolations before being ousted.

In doubles action, the team of Atwood and Oriti went 1-2, winning their first match 8-2. Hauge and Hulick dropped an 8-6 decision in the first round and then fell 8-4 in the consolation round.
