Grove City captures 17th straight PAC championship 

ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's tennis team captured its unprecedented 17th consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference championship Saturday at Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie. 

The Lady Wolverines earned 49 team points to win the title. Waynesburg finished second with 30 points, followed by Westminster (22), Bethany (20), Washington and Jefferson (14) and Thiel (0).

Grove City captured seven of the nine championships and also produced the league's player of the year. Senior Allison Atwood earned her second straight Player of the Year award after winning the first singles title and teaming with sophomore Julie Crewson (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) for the first doubles title.

Atwood downed Bethany's Katie Navarra 6-2, 6-0 in the first singles final while Crewson and Atwood won the first doubles title with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Navarra and Beth Wichrowski.

At third singles, junior Nicole Leasure (Washington, Pa./Trinity) downed Waynesburg's Beth Conlon in the title match, 6-2, 6-4. Crewson won the fourth singles title with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Westminster's Amy Caliguiri. 

Freshman Lindsay Hosler (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Central) claimed the fifth singles title with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Rebecca Greene of Waynesburg while sixth singles entry Kelsey Nee (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) capped her freshman season by defeating Washington and Jefferson's Jennifer Lazorchak in the finals 6-1, 6-3. 

The third doubles combination of Hosler and sophomore Jenna Powell (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) took first with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 final-round win over Conlon and Waynesburg teammate Beth Knight.

At second doubles, Leasure and junior Megan Hulick (Butler, Pa./Butler) fell in the finals while Hulick claimed third place at second singles.
