Chicago clips Grove City
CHICAGO -- The Grove City College women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to host University of Chicago Friday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament at Stagg Field Courts.
Chicago (21-3), the No. 3 seed overall in the 48-team tournament, swept the three doubles matches and then won two singles matches to sew up the overall win. NCAA Tournament matches are stopped once one team picks up five points.
Grove City had reached the second round of the tournament by defeating Webster (Mo.) Thursday afternoon as the Wolverines recorded their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory.
Chicago will face Washington (Mo.) Saturday at 1 p.m. in the regional final. Grove City finishes the season with a 15-6 overall record.
