Grove City falls in NCAA Tournament

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The Grove City College women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision at No. 23 University of Mary Washington Friday afternoon in the regional quarterfinals of the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

Grove City concludes the season with a 12-8 overall record. Mary Washington will now advance to play Vassar Saturday at 2 p.m. in the regional semifinals.

Mary Washington (16-7) won all three doubles matches and then earned two singles wins to clinch the overall victory.

Grove City competed in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season. The Wolverines earned an invitation to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Presidents' Athletic Conference title in October. Mary Washington also advanced to the regional semifinals in 2010 and 2011 after reaching the regional final in 2009.
