Grove City 8, Slippery Rock 1


October 6, 1998--The Grove City College women's tennis team knocked off another Division II opponent Tuesday, beating Slippery Rock University, 8-1.  The Lady Wolverines, who closed their regular season at 11-2 overall, went 5-0 against D-II schools in 1998.

Grove City swept singles with freshman Alyssa Bradford (Akron, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) at #1 (6-2, 6-1),   sophomore Wendy Carlson (Hanover, PA/Southwestern) at #2 (6-2, 6-1), junior Victoria Hull (Somis, CA/La Reina) at #3 (6-0, 6-1), junior Krissy Bedillion (Hickory, PA/Fort Cherry) at #4 (6-3, 2-6, 6-1), junior Kelly Bailey at #5 (6-0, 6-2) and sophomore Lisa Evans (Butler, PA/Butler) at #6 (6-4, 4-6, 6-0).

In doubles, Bradford and Hull were victorious at #1 (8-2), Carlson and Bedillion fell at  #2 (7-9), and Bailey and junior Kara Jo Hoisington (Dimondale, MI/Waverly) won at #3 (8-4).

The Lady Wolverines will be seeking their 12th straight title at the PAC Championships, slated for Friday and Saturday at Thiel College.
