Wolverines sweep Geneva
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action by sweeping visiting Geneva 9-0 on Friday afternoon at the Walters-Zbell Tennis Courts.
The Wolverines (4-5 overall) won matches at first and third doubles easily while senior Leah Thomsen (Cary, N.C./Cary Christian) and sophomore Janine Jones (Northfield, Ohio/Nordonia) won the final two games to pull out an 8-5 victory at second doubles for the doubles sweep.
Freshman Maggie Manchester (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) didn't drop a game in her win at first singles while fellow freshman Kelley Parks (Baden, Pa./Homeschooled) pulled out a 10-4 super-tiebreaker victory at sixth singles to preserve the sweep.
Grove City travels to the University of Mary Washington this weekend to compete in the ITA Small College Mideast Regional Championships.
