Grove City falls in NCAA opener
GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Grove City College women's tennis team closed the 2014-15 season Thursday afternoon by dropping a 5-0 decision to No. 28 Wisconsin-Whitewater in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, hosted by DePauw University at Blackstock Courts.
Wisconsin-Whitewater (23-4) swept the three doubles matches and then clinched the victory by securing wins at third singles and fifth singles.
Grove City concludes the season at 9-7 overall. Thursday's match marked Grove City's fifth all-time appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Wisconsin-Whitewater will face Hope in the regional semifinals Friday. Grove City and Wisconsin-Whitewater had not met prior to Thursday's match.
