Grove City 9, Waynesburg 0
The Lady Wolverine tennis team recorded two more 9-0 victories on its home courts Saturday, beating Presidents' Athletic Conference foes Waynesburg and Washington & Jefferson. Grove City was near perfect, going 132-6 in singles games and 40-3 in doubles games.
Seventh-year head coach Cathy Jacobs used the same lineup in both matches with freshman Alyssa Bradford (Akron, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) at #1 singles (6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1), sophomore Wendy Carlson (Hanover, PA/Southwestern) at #2 (6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0), junior Victoria Hull (Somis, CA/La Reina) at #3 (6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0), junior Krissy Bedillion (Hickory, PA/Fort Cherry) at #4 (6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0), junior Kelly Bailey at #5 (6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2), and sophomore Lisa Evans (Butler, PA/Butler) at #6 (forfeit and 6-1, 6-2).
In doubles, Bradford and Hull swept at #1 (8-0, 8-1), Carlson and Bedillion took #2
(8-0, 8-1), and Bailey and junior Kara Jo Hoisington (Dimondale, MI/Waverly) won at #3
(forfeit and 8-1).
Since an opening day loss to Carnegie Mellon, Grove City has won five straight, including
four by 9-0 margins and the other by an 8-1 count.
The Lady Wolverines play another conference match next Tuesday, September 15, at Bethany beginning at 4:30 p.m.
