Bradford and Carlson Reach Final Four GENEVA, NY, September 25, 1999--Alyssa Bradford (Akron, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) and Wendy Carlson (Hanover, PA/Southwestern) recorded a pair of singles victories on Saturday to advance to the semi-final round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals, held at William Smith College in Geneva, NY. Bradford, the number one seed in the 64-player field, won in straight sets over opponents from Rochester University (6-4, 6-4) and Union College (6-1, 6-3). Carlson, the seven seed, rallied to win in three sets against Hamilton College (3-6, 6-0, 6-2) and Rochester University (3-6, 6-1, 6-3) opponents. The two resume play Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Bradford faces Melanie Lowe of RIT in the semis, while Carlson meets Kristen Janese of SUNY-Cortland. Grove City's doubles teams of Bradford and Vicki Hull (Somis, CA/La Reina) and Carlson and Erika Hauge (Chardon, OH/Chardon) were eliminated by teams from Cortland (3-8) and Hamilton (6-8), respectively. |
