Rabenold named Academic All-American

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College junior cross country/track and field standout Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) recently earned Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Capital One. Rabenold earned Third Team recognition in women's cross country/track and field.

Rabenold concluded the 2014-15 season by placing 13th in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Championships in Canton, N.Y. She earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Most Valuable Performer honors in outdoor track in April after winning the steeplechase, 5,000 and 10,000. Rabenold also received the conference's inaugural indoor track MVP after winning league titles in the mile and 5,000 meters.

Last fall, Rabenold earned NCAA All-America honors in cross country by placing 28th at the NCAA Championships. She is a two-time PAC cross country MVP and qualified for the NCAA Championships in both 2013 and 2014. Rabenold also earned 15th place in the steeplechase at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

She holds Grove City records in the steeplechase and 10,000 meters.

In May, Grove City honored Rabenold as its Sportswoman of the Year for the 2014-15 academic year.

Rabenold owns a 3.88 GPA as a biology major. She is a Dean's List student and has been named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll. Rabenold has also twice earned CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition.

Rabenold's selection marks the 13th straight year that Grove City College has had at least one student-athlete earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. All-time, Grove City has produced 42 Academic All-Americans, including 24 since 2002. Those 24 Academic All-Americans have accounted for 32 total Academic All-America honors.

Rabenold is the third Grove City women's cross country/track and field performer to earn Academic All-America, joining Elisa Pedersen (2006) and Mary Kate Breese (2012, 2013).
