Three named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Sophomores Eliza Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) and freshman Nick Betz (Colorado Springs, Co./Discovery Canyon) were recently recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on its 2013-14 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field honors list.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship and/or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
Lowe, who owns a 3.72 GPA as a history major, finished 21st in the 100-meter high hurdles at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships while Rabenold, a biology major with a 3.89 GPA, took 15th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at those championships.
Betz, a political science major with a 3.78 GPA, finished the season ranked 31st nationally in the outdoor men's 110-meter high hurdles.
Additionally, the Grove City College women's track and field team was also named a USTFCCCA All-Academic team for posting a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.21. Men's and women's programs who achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher are honored as All-Academic teams.
