Three individuals, Grove City women named USTFCCCA All-Academic

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College track and field sophomore hurdler Nick Betz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon), junior hurdler Eliza (Lowe) Gordon (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and junior distance runner Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) have earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2014-15 academic year.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30. In addition, he or she must have either competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship event, finished ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event, or finished ranked in the top 25 nationally as part of a relay team.

Betz, a sophomore business management major, was recognized after finishing the 2015 outdoor season ranked 34th nationally in the 110 hurdles with a season-best time of 14.78 at the Westminster Invitational.

Gordon, a junior history major, earned the honor after finishing the 2015 outdoor season ranked 33rd in Division III in the 400 hurdles with a school-record time of 1:03.27 set at the ECAC Division III Championships.

Rabenold, a junior biology major, was recognized after qualifying 18th to the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 10,000, where she finished 13th. The 2014-15 Grove City College Sportswoman of the Year, Rabenold was also the Presidents' Athletic Conference Most Valuable Performer in both indoor and outdoor track and field and an All-American in cross country. Last month, she became the 43rd CoSIDA Academic All-American in Grove City College history.

In addition to the three individuals, the Grove City women's track and field team also earned the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team honor after finishing with a cumulative team GPA of 3.21. The USTFCCCA honors all programs with a 3.10 or higher team GPA as All-Academic.
