Betz, Allen lead Grove City at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Sophomore Nick Betz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon) and freshman Graham Allen (Upper Dublin, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) both recorded top-five finishes to lead the Grove City College men's indoor track and field team in their first meet of 2015 at Mount Union's Jim Wuske Invitational in Peterson Fieldhouse

Betz finished second among all competitors in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.44 seconds, just .06 seconds shy of his season-best time of 8.38 set at the Youngstown State Icebreaker back in December. Allen added a fourth-place finish in the 800 with a season-best time of 1:59.95.

Junior Dane Mossgrove (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) joined Betz in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, finishing seventh in 9.025 seconds, while sophomore Ryan Buchalter (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian) finished 13th in the 800 in 2:04.04.

Sophomore Brandon Wise (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) took ninth in the 5000 in 17:01.42 while junior Tom Kocur (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) led the Grove City field athletes by clearing 1.78 meters to tie for ninth in the high jump.

The Wolverines 4x400 relay of Allen, freshman Evan Carroscia (Streetsboro, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian), Betz and Buchalter combined for a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:34.37.

Grove City returns to action on Friday afternoon when they compete in the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-February Meet.
