Grove City women compete at Westminster Invitational

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team competed at the Westminster Titan Track and Field Invitational Saturday at Harold Burry Stadium.

Four Lady Wolverine athletes earned first-place finishes, led by junior double-winner Sally Lewis (Rochester, Pa./Freedom). Lewis won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 2 inches and also took the triple jump with a mark of 35-4. Sophomore Christine Rummel (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) won the 400 hurdles in 1:10.82, finished second in the 100 hurdles (17.19) and added a third-place finish in the long jump, reaching 15-10.

Freshman Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) won the 5000 in 19:41 while sophomore Katherine Muse (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) took the 3000-meter run in a time of 11:48.13. Pedersen also took fourth in the 1500, one spot ahead of Muse.  

Sophomore Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) finished third in the 5000 at 20:02 and was runner-up to Muse in the 3000 with a time of 11:54.33. Senior Jordyn Taylor (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) took third in the 100 hurdles (17.35), fourth in the 200 (29.28) and fourth in the 100 (14.08). 

Freshman Michelle Borza (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) took second in the 400 hurdles (1:12.80) and in the pole vault, clearing 8-6. Borza finished fifth in the high jump, reaching 4-4. Also for the Lady Wolverines, freshman Hannah Colian (Salem, Ohio/Salem) finished second in the shot put (34-8) and third in the discus with a toss 94 feet, 6 inches. 

Senior Joy Holcomb (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) finished fourth in both the discus (90-7) and shot put (31-2 1/2).

Senior April Dunfee (Tucson, Ariz./University) finished third in the 800 in 2:52.03 while freshman Beth Mohr (Grove City, Pa./Homeschooled) placed fourth in the 400 in 68.59 seconds.
