Grove City third at CMU meet

PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College women's track and field team took third at the four-team Carnegie Mellon University Track and Field Meet Wednesday at Gesling Stadium. Grove City earned 112 team points, finishing behind host CMU (171) and Pitt-Johnstown (161). Waynesburg took fourth with 48.

Junior Sally Lewis (Rochester, Pa./Freedom) won the long jump with a mark of 16 feet, 10 inches while sophomore Christine Rummel (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) took top honors in the 400 hurdles. Rummel won with a time of 1:12.2. She also took third in both the triple jump (35-8 1/4) and 100 hurdles (16.90 seconds). 

Lewis also finished fourth in the triple jump at 35-7 1/2.

Freshman Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) finished second in the 3000 (11:24.4), two spots ahead of sophomore Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite), who ran an 11:49.3

Freshman Hannah Colian (Salem, Ohio/Salem) took third in the shot put at 34-9 1/4 while sophomore Katherine Muse (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) finished fourth in the 1500 in 5:19.9. Senior Joy Holcomb (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) took fourth in the discus at 102-11 while senior Jordyn Taylor (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) placed fourth in the 100 hurdles.
