Two Lady Wolverines win at GCC meet Tuesday
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team produced a pair of individual winners Tuesday at the Grove City College Track and Field Meet, helping the Lady Wolverines finish third at Robert E. Thorn Field.
Grove City earned 98 points, trailing only Malone (183) and Geneva (165). Westminster took fourth with 74 points while Walsh earned 18 team points.
Junior Sally Lewis (Rochester, Pa./Freedom) and sophomore Christine Rummel (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) both earned victories for Grove City. Lewis won the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 1/4 inch while Rummel took top honors in the 400 hurdles in 70.49 seconds. Rummel also took second in the triple jump, third in the long jump and fourth in the 100 high hurdles.
Lewis, meanwhile, finished third in the triple jump and fourth in the 100 dash.
Freshman Michelle Borza (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) took second to Rummel in the 400 hurdles and then finished third in the high jump. Sophomore Christine Bare (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and freshman Megan Skarada (Clarion, Pa./Clarion-Limestone) tied for second in the 10,000-meter run while freshman Beth Mohr (Grove City, Pa./Homeschooled) took fourth place in the high jump and sixth in the 400.
In addition, senior Jordyn Taylor (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) finished fifth in the 100 hurdles while freshman Lauren Bigley (Washington, Pa./Trinity) took sixth in the 400 hurdles. Sophomore Katherine Muse (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) earned points with sixth-place finishes in both the 800 and 3000.
