Lady Wolverines crown pair of winners at Parents' Day meet
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Two Grove City College athletes collected first-place finishes Saturday at the annual Grove City College Parents' Day Invitational at Robert E. Thorn Field.
Junior Sally Lewis (Rochester, Pa./Freedom) picked up two victories, winning both the triple (36 feet, 5 inches) and long (16-6 1/2) jumps. Sophomore Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) opened the day's competition by winning the 5000 in a time of 20:19.40.
Freshman Hannah Colian (Salem, Ohio/Salem) finished second in both the shot put (32-8 1/2) and discus (107-0) while senior Jordyn Taylor (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) finished second in the 100 dash with a time of 13.50 seconds.
Sophomore Christine Rummel (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) finished second to Lewis in the triple jump (36-1/2) and also finished third in the long jump, high hurdles and 400 hurdles. Freshman Michelle Borza (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) earned third in the pole vault while classmate Lauren Bigley (Washington, Pa./Trinity) tied for third in the high hurdles and finished fifth in the long jump.
Also for Grove City, freshman Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) finished third in the 3000 and fifth in the triple jump while sophomore Christine Bare (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) took third in the 5000, one spot ahead of freshman Megan Skarada (Clarion, Pa./Clarion-Limestone). Freshman Beth Mohr (Grove City, Pa./Homeschooled) earned fourth in the 2000 while sophomore Katherine Muse (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) came home fifth in the 1500.
