Wolverines compete at Geneva Invite

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team took fourth in the four-team Geneva College Merriman Butler Invitational Friday afternoon. The Wolverines accumulated 98 team points, trailing NAIA Malone (223), NCAA Division I Robert Morris (198) and host Geneva (133).

Senior Christine Rummel (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) helped lead Grove City with a second-place finish in the 400 hurdles, posting a time of 1 minute, 12.49 seconds while junior Michelle Borza (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) took third in the 400 hurdles in 1:16.29.

Sophomore Ashley Metcalfe (York, Maine/Portsmouth Christian, N.H.) took third in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet, 8 inches while freshman Carli Gerber (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton) finished fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.8 seconds).

Freshman Kylie Mackaness (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) took fourth in the 800 (2:33.94) while senior Erin Claxton (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) took fourth in the 5000 (18:37.23).

Grove City will compete in the Slippery Rock University Invitational next Saturday afternoon.
