Grove City competes in SRU Invite

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team competed in the Slippery Rock University Invitational Saturday at Bill Lennox Track inside N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

Senior Erin Claxton (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) broke her own College record in the 10,000-meter run Saturday, posting a victorious time of 38 minutes, 0.70 seconds.

Freshman Brittany Moore (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) took sixth in the 400 with a time of 62.78 while freshman Amanda Hewitt (Greensburg, Pa./Latrobe) took seventh in the 1500 (5:07.59). Freshman Brittany Croft (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) took ninth in the 1500 by posting a time of 5:10.49.

Sophomore Sarah Bray (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) took seventh in the javelin with a toss of 119 feet, 11 inches. Senior Christine Rummel (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) placed 11th in the 400 hurdles (1:09.90) while sophomore Ashley Metcalfe (York, Maine/Portsmouth Christian, N.H.) took 11th in the high jump by clearing 4-10.

Grove City will compete in the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Invitational next Saturday afternoon.
