Grove City fares well at home meet

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team captured six total wins Wednesday afternoon as the Wolverines hosted the Grove City Quad Meet at Robert E. Thorn Field.

Senior Sarah Bray (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) earned a pair of wins in the field for Grove City, winning both the discus and javelin. Bray threw the discus 103 feet, 5 inches to secure the win. She then threw the javelin 108-2 for her second win of the day.

Junior Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) won the shot put with a victorious mark of 31-11.

On the track, junior Mary Majchrowicz (Sunnyvale, Calif./The King's Academy) won the 200 dash with a time of 26.31 seconds. Sophomore Sarah Hirsh (Hanover, Pa./South Western) won the steeplechase in 13:35.69.

Grove City closed the meet by winning the 1600 relay. Freshman Kristen Burnett (Severna Park, Md./Mount de Sales), junior Brittany Moore (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township), junior Samantha Gathers (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) and junior Kate Bender (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central) combined for a victorious time of 4:25.95.

Geneva, Saint Vincent and Westminster also competed in Wednesday's meet.

The Wolverines will compete in the Slippery Rock University Invitational Saturday.
