Grove City 4th in PAC

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team earned fourth place at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Washington & Jefferson College at Cameron Stadium Saturday. The Wolverines accumulated 90 team points. Westminster won the team title with 145 points while W&J took second at 120. Thiel earned third with 116 points.

Junior Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham) picked up a pair of individual victories Saturday and also broke two conference records. Carter won the 1500 in a Grove City-record time of 4 minutes, 47.75 seconds, then won the 5000 in 17:59.49.

Junior Julia Seward (Elizabethton, Tenn./Science Hill) opened the meet by winning the 10,000 in 43:01.20. Seward also added a runner-up finish in the 5000 (17:59.71).

Junior Megan Fellows (Erie, Pa./iroquois) led Grove City in the field by winning the javelin with a toss of 118 feet, 4 inches.

Freshman Emily Pierce (Lisbon, N.Y./Lisbon Central) earned runner-up in the 1500 with a time of 4:48.63. Like Carter, Pierce broke the previous PAC record of 4:51.00. Freshman Kate Balmer (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) took third in the 100 dash with a Grove City-record time of 12.51 seconds.

Senior Mary Majchrowicz (Sunnyvale, Calif./The King's Academy) scored in both the 400 and 200. She posted a third-place time of 59.00 in the 400, then took sixth in the 200 (26.46).

Junior Anna Butler (West Palm Beach, Fla./Westminster Academy) placed fifth in the 10000 with a time of 47:38.79 while freshman Brigitte Fryan (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) took sixth in the 1500 (5:06.04). Sophomore Sara Wagoner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) finished sixth in the 100 high hurdles (16.92) while senior Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) took sixth in the javelin with a throw of 104 feet, 3 inches.
