Grove City earns 6th at Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's track and field team placed sixth out of 15 teams Saturday at Marietta College's Don Frail Invitational, held at Don Drumm Stadium. The Wolverines earned 51 points throughout the day. Notre Dame (Ohio) and Marietta tied for the team title with 94.5 points.

Two Grove City runners captured titles at Marietta. Freshman Morgan Osterhouse (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) won the 3000 steeplechase in 11 minutes, 58.80 seconds. That time sets a new Grove City record in the event.

Senior Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham) earned Grove City's other victory by taking the 5000 in 18:11.99.

Freshman Emily Pietrucha (Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) recorded two top finishes in the middle-distance events. She placed second in the 1500 (5:03.00) and claimed third in the 800 with a time of 2:24.43. Sophomore Kate Balmer (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) took fifth in the 100 (12.88).

Two Grove City field performers recorded seventh-place finishes Saturday. Freshman Christen Vallimont (Lake Hoptacong, N.J./Jefferson Township) took seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 32 feet. Sophomore Chrystal Kuchcinski (North East, Pa./North East) placed seventh in the javelin with a toss of 106 feet, 3 inches.

Grove City will compete in the Slippery Rock University Invitational Saturday, April 11 at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
