Grove City 2nd at North Quad

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team placed second at the Presidents' Athletic Conference North Quad, hosted by Westminster College at Memorial Field Wednesday afternoon. The Wolverines recorded 51 points on the day. Westminster won the event with 92 points. Geneva (44) took third and Thiel finished fourth with four points.

Three Grove City athletes earned wins Wednesday. Freshman Shannon Bishop (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) led Grove City's effort in the field by winning the triple jump with a best mark of 32 feet, 7 inches.

On the track, junior Hannah Tubb (Alexandria, Va./Annandale) and sophomore Sara Fisher (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) both recorded wins. Tubb won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 19.32 seconds and Fisher won the 3,000 in 10:58.07.

Fisher also took second in the 1,500 (4:54.01). Junior Christen Vallimont (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson) took second in both hurdle events. She finished runner-up in the 100 high hurdles (17.42) and then placed second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:11.83.

Sophomore Ella Smith (Becker, Minn./Becker) finished second in the 3,000 (11:12.37) while freshman Katrina Holvik (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Port Jefferson) captured second in the 3,000 steeplechase in 12:43.63.

Freshman Grace Postma (New Berlin, Wis./New Berlin), freshman Austin Powell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca), freshman Cayla Clawson (York, Pa./Central York) and Tubb closed the meet by posting a runner-up time of 4:25.03 in the 4x400 relay.

Freshman Lydia Caissy (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) earned second in the long jump with a best leap of 14-8.

The Wolverines will compete in the Westminster Invitational Saturday.
