Wolverines compete at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team took seventh out of 13 teams at the Westminster College Invitational Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field. Grove City athletes earned 52 team points during the meet. Westminster won the team title with 132 points.

Sophomore Sara Fisher (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) paced Grove City by winning the 5,000 in 18 minutes, 2.75 seconds Saturday. Senior Emily Pierce (Lisbon, N.Y./Lisbon) earned second in the 5,000 with a time of 18:28.13.

Freshman Cayla Clawson (York, Pa./Central York) earned third in the 800 in 2:3.76. Senior Kate Balmer (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) finished fourth in the 100-meter dash (13.38) and freshman Laurel Skorup (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) finished fourth in the steeplechase (12:35.34).

Freshman Candace Cozad (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) led the Wolverines in the field by taking fourth in the shot put with a distance of 33 feet, 3 1/2 inches.

Grove City will compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships April 29-30 at Bethany, W.Va.
