Wolverines fare well at The Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team competed in the Slippery Rock University Dave Labor Invitational Friday night at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Sophomore Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) led Grove City's effort by winning the 3000 steeplechase in a school-record time of 11 minutes, 18.03 seconds. Rabenold also took third in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:09.12.

Sophomore Eliza Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) took fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.46) and senior Laurel Skorup (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) placed fourth in the 5000 (19:02.10).

Three Grove City performers posted fifth-place finishes in field events. Freshman Melanie Packard (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) cleared 10 feet in the pole vault while classmate Rachel Watson (Jackson Center, Pa./Lakeview) marked at 33-0 in the triple jump. Freshman Katelyn Hess (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) leaped 16-2 in the long jump.

Grove City returns to action next Saturday at the Westminster Invitational.
