Lowe, Rabenold qualify for NCAA Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Two Grove City College women's track and field athletes have qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held Thursday-Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Sophomore Eliza Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) has qualified in the 100-meter high hurdles and classmate Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) will compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Lowe is seeded 13th out of 22 participants in the high hurdles and Rabenold is ranked 16th out of 22 in the steeplechase.

Lowe recorded a school-record time of 14.35 seconds in the preliminaries of the 100 hurdles at last week's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships in Troy, N.Y. Rabenold also posted her NCAA qualifying time at the ECAC meet as she earned second place in 10:51.03.

Rabenold owns the school record in the steeplechase. She also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in cross country last fall. Rabenold took 179th out of 280 runners at the national meet November 23 in Hanover, Ind.

Rabenold will compete in the steeplechase preliminaries Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The steeplechase finals are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. Lowe begins competition Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the preliminaries. The finals of the 100 hurdles will be held at 2:25 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The top eight finishers in each event are awarded All-America honors.
