Grove City opens 15-16 at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's track and field team recorded three new program records in the opening meet of their second indoor season at the Youngstown State University Icebreaker at YSU's Watson and Tressel Training Site.

Junior Katelyn Hess (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) set two new Wolverine benchmarks in the jumping events. She took 12th in the triple jump with a best mark of 34 feet, 5.75 inches (10.51m) and also set a new record in the long jump with a 17th-place leap of 15 feet, 10.25 inches (4.83m).

Junior Melanie Packard (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) broke her own school indoor record in the pole vault, taking 14th place by clearing 10 feet, 2.75 inches (3.12m).

Junior Rachel Watson (Jackson Center, Pa./Lakeview) finished 15th in the triple jump with a best mark of 10.06m while junior Lauren Pearce (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) led Grove City in the 60 with a time of 8.54 seconds.

Freshman Erin McGann (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) led the Wolverine throwers with an 18th-place mark of 33 feet, 5.75 inches (10.20m) in the shot put.

Yesterday was the Wolverines' lone meet of the 2015 calendar year. Grove City will return to action on February 6, 2016 at Mount Union's Jim Wuske Invitational.
