Grove City competes at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's indoor track and field team took ninth out of 15 teams Friday night at Baldwin Wallace University's Mid-February Meet. Grove City finished the meet with 30.5 team points. Buffalo State won the team title with 158 points.

Grove City's 800-meter relay team of senior Allison Blain (Danbury, Conn./Danbury), freshman Elizabeth Donahoe (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional), junior Sarah Williamson (York, Pa./Northeastern) and junior Lauren Pearce (Grand Rapids, Mich./Hudsonville) led the Wolverine effort by taking second with a time of 1 minute, 53.43 seconds.

Freshman Maty Zeckzer (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) earned third in the 1000 meters in 3:31.91 while Blain, Donahoe, Pearce and sophomore Melanie Wizorek (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) combined for fourth place in the 1600 relay (4:22.74).

Junior Rachel Watson (Jackson Center, Pa./Lakeview) led Grove City's field performance by earning fourth in the triple jump with a best mark of 32 feet, 3 1/2 inches.

Junior Lydia Keiper (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) took fifth in the 5000 (19:36.44) while Donahoe placed eighth in the 800 (2:29.97). Junior Melanie Packard (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) cleared 10-5 1/2 to place eighth in the pole vault.

Junior Katie Hess (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) took 10th in the high jump (4-7) and freshman Erin McGann (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) finished 10th in the shot put (33-9 1/4).

Grove City returns to action February 25 at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in Youngstown, Ohio.
