Wolverines compete at SRU Dave Labor Invite

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team recorded a number of strong showings at Slippery Rock's Dave Labor Invitational on a windy Saturday afternoon at the William Lennox Track.

Senior Allison Blain (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) led the Wolverines by claiming victory in the 400-meter run, posting a time of 1:02.95 to win the event out of Heat No. 2. Junior Lydia Keiper (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) took third in the 10,000 in 39:43.08 while junior Rachel Watson (Jackson Center, Pa./Lakeview) led Grove City's jumping contingent with a fourth-place mark of 10.31 meters in the triple jump.

Grove City's 4x100m relay of junior Sarah Williamson (York, Pa./Northeastern), Blain, junior Lauren Pearce (Grand Rapids, Mich./Hudsonville) and sophomore Melanie Wizorek (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) finished fourth with a time of 52.73 seconds while Williamson, Blain, freshman Elizabeth Donahoe (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) and Wizorek finished seventh in the 4x400m relay in 4:28.70.

Donahoe finished seventh individually in the 800m in 2:31.99. Two Wolverine field performers added eighth-place finishes, as freshman Erin Logue (St. Petersburg, Pa./Allegheny-Clarion Valley) posted a mark of 29.52 meters in the javelin and freshman Tabitha White (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) cleared 1.43m in the high jump.

Junior Liv Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) and freshman Rachel Martin (Mars, Pa./Eden Christian) finished ninth (5:29.36) and 10th (5:33.10) in the 1500 to round out Grove City's top-10 finishes.

Grove City returns to action next Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Oberlin Bob Kahn Invitational.
