Wolverines compete at Gator Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Several members of the Grove City College women's track and field team competed at the 11th-annual Allegheny Gator Invitational on Friday afternoon and evening at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.

Junior Rachel Watson (Jackson Center, Pa./Lakeview) led the Wolverines with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.28 meters while freshman Elizabeth Donahoe (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) took sixth in the 200 in 2:26.57. Junior Melanie Packard (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) also posted a sixth-place finish, doing so in the pole vault by matching her own school-record of 3.40 meters.

Sophomore Margi Haiss (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) paced Grove City's throwers by taking eighth in the discus with a best throw of 37.58 meters while freshman Erin McGann (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) was ninth in the javelin with a mark of 31.30 meters. Junior Sarah Williamson (York, Pa./Northeastern) finished ninth in the triple jump with a best leap of 4.71 meters.

Today's meet concludes the 2016 season for Grove City. The Wolverines lose seniors Allison Blain (Danbury, Conn./Danbury), Lydia Rittenhouse (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite), Laura Smith (Moon Township, Pa./Robinson Twp. Christian) and Mara Thompson (Goodlettsville, Tenn./Merrol Hyde) to graduation.
