Wolverines earn 2nd at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team earned second place out of 22 teams Saturday at the Westminster Invitational, held at Memorial Field. Grove City accumulated 88 team points and trailed only Division II program Malone (108 points) in the team standings.

Grove City closed the meet by winning the 1600 relay as junior Allison Blain (Danbury, Conn./Danbury), junior Eliza Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City), junior Adrienne Scrima (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) and sophomore Lauren Pearce (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) combined for a winning time of 4 minutes, 3.86 seconds.

Junior Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) won the 10,000 meters by recording a victorious time of 38:03.85. Sophomore Lydia Keiper (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) earned runner-up in the 10,000 with a time of 41:22.01.

Lowe earned second in the 100 hurdles (14.98) and added a third-place finish in the 400 hurdles (1:05.24). Lowe, Blain, Pearce and sophomore Sarah Williamson (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) combined to take second place in the 400 relay (50.65).

Junior Stevie Huston (Greensburg, Pa./Latrobe) placed third in the 1500 (5:04.06) while sophomore Kellen McGann (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) finished third in the steeplechase with a time of 12:38.03.

Sophomore Kate Hess (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) marked at 15 feet, 9 3/4 inches in the long jump to earn fourth. Hess also cleared 4-9 in the high jump, good for fifth place.

Grove City will compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference North Quad in Beaver Falls, Pa., Thursday afternoon.
