Grove City wins PAC North Quad

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Juniors Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) and Eliza Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) each won a pair of individual events and set meet records as the Grove City College women's track and field team won 11 total events to roll to the team title at the Presidents' Athletic Conference North Quad Meet on a rainy Thursday evening at Geneva College's Merriman Athletic Complex.

Grove City amassed an impressive 274.5 points, nearly double that of second-place Geneva's 144.5. Westminster (79) and Thiel (57) rounding out the team scoring.

Rabenold continued what has already been an impressive junior season by winning the 5,000 by nearly two minutes in a meet and stadium-record time of 17:45.65, the fastest outdoor time of her collegiate career. Rabenold would also win the 1500 in a meet-record and personal-best time of 4:49.22.

Lowe swept the hurdle events, breaking her own meet record from 2013 in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.85 and also winning the 100 high hurdles in 15.89 seconds. Lowe also teamed with sophomore Lauren Pearce (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville), junior Allison Blain (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) and sophomore Sarah Williamson (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) to win the 4x100 relay in 50.55 seconds.

Williamson also earned an individual victory on the day, taking the 100 in 13.48 seconds. Blain and Williamson finished second (27.90) and third (28.19), respectively, in the 200 while juniors Stevie Huston (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe) and Anna Cessar (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) also finished second (2:26.37) and third (2:32.05) in the 800. Huston joined Rabenold in the 1500 with a third-place finish in 4:59.66.

Senior Mara Womer (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) finished just behind Lowe in the 100 hurdles (17.48) and junior Adrienne Scrima (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) and Womer took second (1:08.48) and third (1:13.04) in the 400 hurdles. Sophomore Kellen McGann (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) rounded out Grove City's top-three finishes on the track with a third-place finish in the 3,000 steeplechase in 12:25.10.

Grove City also earned wins in three of the four jumping events. Sophomore Katie Hess (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) won the high jump with a best mark of 1.50m and finished second (9.60m) to fellow sophomore Rachel Watson (Jackson Center, Pa./Lakeview) in the triple jump as Watson posted a victorious leap of 10.20 meters. Sophomore Melaine Packard (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) won the pole vault with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 3.30 meters while Williamson finished third in the long jump with a distance of 4.65 meters.

The Wolverines also claimed event wins in two of the three throws. Senior Ellie Stoffer (Canfield, Ohio/South Range) won the javelin with a top mark of 35.85 meters while sophomore Jessica Rolando (Hewitt, N.J./West Milford) finished second with a mark of 34.76 meters. Freshman Margi Haiss (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) claimed her first collegiate win, taking the discus with a best throw of 35.54 meters while fellow rookie Brooke Beatty (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) finished third in the event (29.85m).

Grove City will return to action on April 24-25 when it hosts the 2015 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships at Robert E. Thorn Field.
