Miami doubles up GCC, 14-7

GROVE CITY, PA, April 20, 2001--The Lady Wolverine water polo team opened this weekend's six-team Grove City College Invitational with a 14-7 loss to Miami University (OH) Friday night.

Junior Adrienne Hill (Portville, NY/Portville Central), freshman Tammy Hamsher (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) and freshman Jessica Zedaker (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek) scored two goals apiece for the Lady Wolverines, who led 1-0 in the first quarter before trailing 5-2 at halftime.  The deficit remained three goals (7-4) into the middle of the third frame before Miami outscored the hosts 7-3 the rest of the way.  Junior Sarah Erdos (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) accounted for the other Lady Wolverine tally.

Grove City, now 6-18 overall, plays the University of Notre Dame Saturday morning at 10:30 and will follow with games against Penn State Behrend College at 1:00 p.m. and Gannon University at 3:30 p.m.

In earlier invitational action Friday at GCC, Slippery Rock defeated Gannon, 8-2, and Notre Dame downed Behrend, 15-2.
