GCC debuts at nationals

REDLANDS, CA, May 4, 2001--The Lady Wolverines dropped their first two games at the Collegiate III Women's Water Polo Championship Tournament Friday, falling to defending national champion Occidental, 13-4, and top-seeded Redlands, 16-2, in Redlands, CA.

Freshman Jessica Zedaker (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek), freshman Tammy Hamsher (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), junior Sarah Erdos (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) and sophomore Sarah Grabowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry Traditional) scored a goal each in the opener against Occidental.  Jessica Zedaker and Hamsher added three steals apiece, while freshman goalkeeper Julie Zedaker (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek) stopped nine of 23 shots on goal.

Julie Zedaker came back with 10 saves on 26 shots in the Redlands loss.  Jessica Zedaker was credited with seven steals, while junior Adrienne Hill (Portville, NY/Portville Central) and senior Janel Young (Chicora, PA/Butler) accounted for the two Lady Wolverine tallies.

Grove City meets MIT Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m.
